Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Public School Funding in Montana is at an inadequate level. O* I believe there is enough revenue flowing into our schools. I believe it is a spending and proper placement of the funds issue.
2. Parents should have greater freedom to choose how and where their children are educated, including options such as education savings accounts, tax credits, vouchers, or other school-choice mechanisms. S* I am definitely a limited government candidate. I have two concerns in this area. First, I believe when one is requesting vouchers or "scholarship" of any type you are also inviting government in and that indebtedness can result in intrusion. I also believe we should have some standard to receive a high school diploma. In some states, English is not required nor is a 6th grade or sometimes a 3rd grade reading level. Although I am aware of some special needs that should be accommodated, I think a high school graduation diploma should be more than a participation award.
3. Parents should be allowed to homeschool their children without additional state regulation SS
4. Curricula based on Critical Race Theory (CRT) should be prohibited in Montana public schools SS
5. Comprehensive sex education should be taught in public elementary schools, beginning as early as kindergarten. SO
6. Montana’s income taxes are too high. S
7. Montana’s property taxes are too high SS* I had the numbers in my first submission but failed to save it, so as I'm traveling I do not have the exact numbers with me. Our neighboring states were equal or higher unless they added in a sales tax which I personally am NOT a fan of. The real issue is that if we quit growing government and spending so much, we would not have to keep increasing taxes. It's not really complicated. Do we not have to budget as families and businesses or go bankrupt?
8. Montana’s corporate taxes are too high S
9. The Second Amendment protects the right of law-abiding citizens to own firearms for self-defense. SS
10. Montanans should not be discriminated against or treated differently based on their vaccination status. SS* Not only do I believe Montanans should not be discriminated against or treated differently based on their vaccination status, I believe the government owes them back pay the the jobs they lost, or were forced into early retirement because of it.
11. Climate change is a serious problem that requires increased government regulation. O* Climate change is inevitable. As one can observe we are no longer in an Ice Age. However, I have lived through the Acid Rain scare, the high temps that would burn us up in the 90s, Freezing temps of the 2000s and the state of California falling in the ocean in the 70s.
12. Environmental regulations in Montana are currently too restrictive. S
13. Abortion should be illegal at all stages of pregnancy. S
14. Abortion should be legal only in the early stages of pregnancy and restricted after a specific point, except when necessary to save the life of the mother. O* We have been lied to regarding life. The Bible has been clear when life begins and when the Lord knew us. Opponents know what a baby is even though they reject to admit it and when it fits in their narrative. Just asking for a friend, has anyone ever went to a fetus shower?
15. Abortion should remain legal at all stages of pregnancy, without restriction. SO
16. Individuals and organizations should be allowed to opt out of abortion-related mandates, if those mandates violate their religious or moral convictions. SS
17. Physician-assisted suicide should be legal in Montana. O
18. Biological males who identify as transgender should be allowed to compete in women’s and girl's athletic competitions. SO
19. Medical procedures intended to change a minor’s sex or gender should be prohibited. SS* I am grateful for the gender reversal back to biological sex resurgence .These brave survivors now KNOW they were lied to and can help save lives by exposing how dangerous this is.
20. Same-sex couples should be permitted to adopt children. O* Minors should be protected from abuse at all cost period. Marriage is God's and sacred. The courts have no jurisdiction to change a covenant made by God over what He himself states is good. The compassionate side of me knows and loves folks who have chosen same sex relationships, but the studies I have read show that there is concern for the kids raised in those homes. Again, protect the children in all homes.
21. State and local nondiscrimination laws should be expanded to include sexual orientation and gender identity in the same manner as race, religion, and national origin. SO
22. Montana’s marriage laws should be revised to reflect the U.S. Supreme Court’s legalization of same-sex marriage. O
23. Objective moral truths exist and should inform laws and public policy, rather than shifting cultural preferences. SS
24. Government should be limited in scope, with most decisions best made by individuals, families, and local communities rather than centralized authorities. S
25. Homosexuals and transgender people should be allowed to adopt children: O
26. Personal responsibility and self-governance are more effective at solving social problems than expanded government programs: S
27. Parents—not government institutions—are the primary authority responsible for the education and moral formation of their children: S* As irreverent education and media lies have infiltrated our society, personal responsibility and self-governance has been more challenging. With that said, solving social problems through government has a very low success rate as well. I believe around the 2-3 % success rate. Again, I support parents over the government unless abuse is present. But, parents are also the parents and we need to protect children while help parents. We can't legislate morality in one's heart but we sure can legislate against morality for the sake of our nation.
